Josh Mellicker in the forum topic Multiple Source Sequence in FCP 7 in the group Final Cut Pro 7 and before
My advice is to convert all incoming footage to the same format before importing. I use DV Kitchen for this. Where are you delivering your project?
If Blu Ray, I would convert everything to Pro Res 1080 60i […]

I can’t imagine it’s a conflict with any of those programs… but I find FCPX to be buggy, it’s might not be quite ready for use.
-
Good point, I hadn’t thought about that…I actually think they might be right to some degree, but maybe 10 years too early to totally eliminate the idea of DVD’s (especially since doing something like, say a […]

weird…any inside info on wether apple is working on anything? DVDSPX?
(….can encore be bought by itself? I thought it was bundled with CS5 or something?) -
DVDSP is no longer available. Adobe Encore is probably the most appropriate suggestion for advanced DVD authoring.

is this program still available as a stand-alone or have they scrapped this along with FCP Legacy, etc…if it isn’t what are my options for dvd authoring outside of iDVD?

Josh Mellicker in the forum topic 2 questions about event folders in FCPX in the group Final Cut Pro X
I would just deselect that option.
There is no advantage to selecting it.

The import setting “copy files to final cut events folder”, if selected, (and if I understand whats going on correctly)will make each file take up double the space on your computer (one file in the original […]

Thanks Josh!
(just seemed to remember something in the past about how this could fragment your drive or something) -
Josh Mellicker in the forum topic Should I create a Partition if I don't have a separate media drive? in the group Editors
There’s no need to partition or keep media on a separate drive. Millions are editing using only one hard dive.
Though you could buy an external drive if you ever run out of room or want to free up space on […]

I just got a new iMac, but it only has one HD. In the past I have always kept my captured footage on a separate drive than the main (boot) hard drive (can’t remember why, just seems like the thing you’re […]

Josh Mellicker in the forum topic Considering the Leap into FCPX; opinions from current users? in the group Final Cut Pro X
It works if you avoid the bugs. Many people have reported finishing projects without trouble. Many others are in “wait and see” mode, to see what happens over the next few updates.
It’s kind of like the […]

I’m actually beginning to get used to the logic of the interface, but when you say ”VERY BUGGY”, what do you mean by that?
That’s my big question, does the most recent version of FCPX actually work?

Josh Mellicker in the forum topic Best Route to Convert 1080i to 720p web ? in the group Final Cut Pro X
1. If you are delivering on the web, I would shoot in 30p, it will save you interlacing trouble later, and offer better quality.
2. 29.97 is also called “60i”. This article explains […]

okay I just got a new iMac and I’m thinking about purchasing FCPX. I’ve been tooling around with the demo and it seems okay, but I’d like to hear from some people who have edited a few projects already using […]
