Editors 1 year agoI have a sequence exported from final cut express (dvpal). On my Macbook the sequence plays perfectly well via Quicktime, on my iMac the sequence plays with interpolated (blended) images across the cuts, again via […]

Final Cut Express: 1 year, 10 months agoHi, can anyone please point me in the right direction to be able to digitise over timecode breaks in Final cut express? Can’t seem to find the option anywhere… is there that option even?
Many thanks

In reply to: Ben Drury posted an update in the group Final Cut Express: Can anyone please tell me how to make a slo-mo not look like a strobed stuttering juddering load of tosh? There only seems to be one setting for ’speed’ […] ViewTerrific, I’ll give it a go. Thank you for that Smiley! I expected an issue with speed ramps (absent) and/or below 40% but i’m getting problems with 85%… and then bizzarely not on some @ 60%, both exactly the same format/imports (??!) The Logic of FC I guess, will never quite sit comfortably with me…
Will let post how I get on. Cheers!

Final Cut Express: 2 years, 5 months agoCan anyone please tell me how to make a slo-mo not look like a strobed stuttering juddering load of tosh?
There only seems to be one setting for ‘speed’ in FCE and whenever I add it to a clip it renders (not in the technical literal sense!) useless. I am using DV PAL material and exporting Quicktime interlaced and progressive to the same…[Read more]

Final Cut Express: 2 years, 7 months agoTry crushing the blacks a wee bit in the wide and then increasing the saturation on the same angle. It looks like the blacks on the wide are slightly washed out. Hopefully by doing the above you will end up with a richer picture in the wide that will marry better with the closer shot. [...]

Final Cut Express: 2 years, 7 months agoI am still having a torrid time exporting a decent sequence from FC express!! For some bizarre reason the export seems to create only what I can describe as a ‘frame mix’ over the cuts, ie a frame containing a field from the outgoing clip and a field from the incoming clip. This is not [...]

Final Cut Pro: 2 years, 8 months agoYou’re not far wrong Dean, but I am also not far off throwing the whole lot out of the window! Two sequences now joined together on the timeline, played out with continuous timecode to dv. Now FCE won’t capture past around 4mins without a ‘dropped frame error’… every turn is headbangingly frustrating. I must say [...]

Final Cut Pro: 2 years, 8 months agoYes sorry Dean it is Express I am using FCP was in error as I rattled on! I no longer have my previous system that had FCP on it and now only have Express to hand on my lap top. I’m guessing the nesting (which rings a big needed bell) isn’t present on the Express [...]

Final Cut Pro: 2 years, 8 months agoI found mixdown (randomly placed in Render??!) – doesn’t do what it says on the tin. So it seems the only option I have is to playout the audio sequence to Dv and then re-digitise back in as a new audio clip. Surely a ‘professional’ piece of editing software would have a proper mixdown tool? [...]

Final Cut Pro: 2 years, 8 months agoIn Avid there is a option for Audio mixdown to create a single audio clip (ie creating 2 stereo tracks of say a 12 track tracklay)
I can’t seem to find a similar tool or option in Final Cut Express, could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Final Cut Pro: 2 years, 8 months agoSo the sequence format is: DV PAL 48khz And the Clips = 25 fps, 720×576, DV Pal, 3.6 MB/sec, PAL CCR601 All pretty straight forward there are no, mixed media files in the sequence and the export is a straight DV PAL. What I am getting in random places is a ghost frame (on the [...]

Final Cut Pro: 2 years, 9 months ago625 as in British Standard PAL as opposed to 525 NTSC. The clips are all quicktime (dvd material from the DVxDv import) and are then cut in FC express which in turn is exported to Quicktime ~ DV PAL, 24 frame, interlaced. I have tried Progressive, 25 frame, H-264 etc etc etc… The fact I [...]

Final Cut Pro: 2 years, 9 months agoHaving imported 16:9/625pal dvd material (extracted in DVDxDV as standard dv pal), I now wish to export the edited material from Final Cut Express. FCP’s intrinsic ability to create slow footage is somewhat limited. Most good footage with limited motion can be slowed to 50%. But beyond that, you’ll probably have to spend money. The issue is that the program must create synthetic intermediate frames to fill-in between the real frames. The greater the speed reduction, the more frames must be…[Read more]
