    Hi there,

I was hoping you could help me. I’ve recently kitted myself out with a sony pd150, and have Avid Xpress HD Pro on my laptop. Tonight was the first time I tried capturing, and typically there was a problem. I’m using a firewire, and the system sees, and plays the tape. But when I went to capture is flashed up this error: Exception: DIOProducer – digital I/O malfunction, DIOError:PMDIOFormat::SetAutoFormat – invalid sample size – client value 16: acceptable value: 12. It sounds like its telling me what’s wrong, but unfortunately I don’t know enough about the system to understand!! At the moment the res is set to DV 25 420 OMF. Any help you can offer would be great. I set up everything when I was in Ireland, now I’m in South Africa without tech support!!

    Thanks,

    Laura

Sounds like a timecode issue to me. Try capturing to a format labeled DV 30 instead of DV 25. DV 25 would be PAL (europe) while DV 30 would be NTSC.

Hi Jordan, thanks for your speedy reply. The options available to me are DV 25 411, DV 25 420, DV 50 and the odd one out DV15:1s?? No DV 30 I’m afraid.

The camera was bought in Ireland and the software was set up there too so that probably explains the PD 25 – not sure why they’re not talking to one an another though!

hmm, maybe you can try to change some audio settings then. This part of the error might be referring to sound: “value 16: acceptable value: 12.” Set the audio to record at 12bit instead of 16bit. Let me know if that helps.
