What does DVDSP do when a project is saved? (2 posts)

I’ve run into serious problems with a very complex project (concerning the number of menus and links).

First, DVDSP behaves very strange when projects are saved. The more menus and/or links a project gets, the longer it takes to save. And I’m talking about ridiculous times here! The longest save-time I’ve clocked was over 2 HOURS. (The project file is about 30MB. PhotoShop saves an image of equivalent size in seconds).

What’s going on here? Isn’t the project-file mainly a list of links (to the media)?

However, this is not the worst problem. Sooner or later DVDSP will stop saving the project-file altogether. At least I assume that, if it hasn’t completed saving it in 12 (twelve) hours, it never will.

The first time this happened I through the whole project away (together with months’ of work) and started over from the beginning (beveling that the project file, including back-ups, had somehow become corrupted). Now, again after several months of work, it has happened again.

Has anyone else come across this problem, and found a solution?

The DVD Studio Pro Preferences window contains settings that you can use to configure its default operations. DVD Studio Pro, you will first need to create a new project and save it to a folder on your computer to keep your files in.

    Thanks
