I bought an LG Blu Ray burner, and have it hooked up to my Mac. I had a LaCie external DVD burner with Light Scribe, so I swapped the drives. The LG is now in the LaCie enclosure. I did have to get and ATA […]

I’ve used Roxio Toast to make BD-5 on a regular DVD. I don’t know the resolution – it’s less than 1080, but it seems to be a step above standard DVD resolution. You can only get something like 30 minutes on a standard DVD. The bit rate seems to be at the high end of [...]

That’s what I thought, and this is something that really just (pause while typing, trying to figure a family friendly term for annoys the living $### out of me) – not that DVD can’t support HD, but that there are videographers that take advantage of this. I’ve recently started my videography business, with my main [...]

I know that a DVD is not capable of HD resolutions, so since a DVD would be 720×480, is it then just HD video that has been converted down to SD?

you are likely going to need to rent a digi-beta deck for the final output (a few hundred bucks or more a day most likely for a rental), or ask a post facility how much they would charge for an output to DigiBeta from your master on a hard drive. As far as frame rates [...]

Long story on this one. I’m considering doing a particular project, and the final output would need to be on digital Beta. Where would I be able to go to get that done?

Also what would be the best format to edit this in (certain frame rates, frame size, etc)

I use DVD SP with my FCP 5.04. I make DVDs with no menu — i.e., they play when inserted. I’d love to learn how to put one or two buttons on a menu, so I can have a feature film with a trailer and the full feature on two different buttons. I don’t want music playing or any artwork showing — just two buttons for viewers to click on.

Josh, in your Method #3 for exporting a high quality movie, step #6 reads:

    6.
Click the “Settings” button in the Sound panel and set it up like this:

But there is nothing that follows this instruction except #7. Is there move to do under “Settings”? Thanks.

Optical disc players are weird. Sometimes things work that shouldn’t, and vice versa.
