Guy, I was told by a much more experienced shooter that he contacted Canon about these two issues. I’m just passing this on. On several occasions I have focused well but ended up with soft shots. On 2. It was a one off thing and I’d have to go back to find the source tape. I’ll see if I can find time to find that.

Hi Ty, on 1, it sounds like something is wrong with the lens. On all the XL2 cameras that I have used, they have held focus from the moment that they are turned on. On 2, could you zoom into a section of the artifact and post up a still?

Yes, the XL2 is cool, but has anybody else run into these problems with the XL2?

1. It needs to be up and running for 15 minutes or so to hold focus.
2. In certain lighting conditions, there can be artifacts that are not apparent in the viewfinder.

Does anyone have any other gotchas?
