Instinct is telling me that it would be foolish to plug output X into input Y on a brand new camera, but I'd like to know more about the details. I'm strongly considering using a Tascam DR100 (although I wish they would offer a stripped down one for cheaper without the silly built in microphones... who pays 400 bucks for a recording device with all those inputs and uses built in microphones?), but I also have inputs that will need to be managed from a handful of other sources and I want to handle these things carefully and safely. One major item that is probably of use for many is audio/music equipment like guitars and audio mixers for music and performance based around these types of devices. I would love to see a detailed explanation of the differences between line signal and mic signal as far as voltage and amperage and db are concerned.
